1. &nbsp;And as he came out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Look, Teacher, what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!”
2. &nbsp;And Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone upon another, that will not be thrown down.”
 
There is a deep spiritual need in all of us for a sense of permanency, stability, and&nbsp;constancy. &nbsp;We yearn for the eternal, that which does not change. &nbsp;It makes us feel safe and secure.
 
It is especially troubling for old people whose worlds have or are&nbsp;vanishing. &nbsp;We search for signs of what once was, but is no more. &nbsp;I sometimes believe that when&nbsp;the elderly withdraw into themselves, they are recalling their past lives. &nbsp;It is a kinder place to be than what this world has become for them.
 
How wonderful to have been given something which does not change, God’s Word.
Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not&nbsp;pass away.” &nbsp;(Matthew 24;35)
 
When we make the unchanging Word of God our source of peace, strength, hope, and stability, we surround ourselves with divine&nbsp;eternity. &nbsp;
 
Today’s reading is a grim warning to not make earthly things your source of comfort. &nbsp;Be wise, daily abiding in God’s Word not only keeps your soul repenting and believing, it actually contributes to good mental health.
As we abide in the never ending, forgiving love of the Father, through repentance and&nbsp;faith in Jesus, we are able to minister God’s eternal truth and peace to others.
 
Prayer: &nbsp;Merciful Father, fix our hearts where the howling&nbsp;of&nbsp;times’ destructive&nbsp;winds and storms&nbsp;cannot disturb us. &nbsp;In Jesus we pray, Amen.
